I did this LO for the sketch challenge at DSP. I used Nikki Beaudreau's My Favorite Colors kit.

my first paycheck
My first tru paying job (where they took out taxes & FICA) was at Wheeling Park in 1980. I was 13 years old. I made $1.20 an hour & could only work 12 hour a week by law. I worked at a concession stand near the playground that also rented paddleboats for the lake & clubs for mini golf. It was a natural transition for me. I had attended summer day camp at that park from age 4 until age 12. I would continue to work there every summer until I was 20 years old. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of that place.
I spent the money mostly on books that first summer, though my folks made me put part of every check into a bank account.

so far
I used my PC time yesterday to finish the prize kit for the chat tonight. Fortunately i had a bunch of the pieces made already for a layout I did a week ago. I also picked out some photos to scrap for a couple challenges, checked my email, got caught up on my message boards (Seriously think I just need to drop 2 of them) & started MP3 conversion of some audiobooks, which doesn't require me to sit here.
I spent my additional off PC time, the past 3 days, pulling the layouts I like out of the stack of Scrapbook mags I have, getting caught up on the past 2 months of Gourmet magazine & have started read re-reading Anne Perry's Pitt series. (I hav a couple on audio) I have also cleaned out the boys' toys & have a stack to donate.
Today I am going to try to get one layout done in small bursts. I've worked out what I want it too look like, what quote I want to use & what kit. I'm just not sure about the effects & fonts & I'll have to actually see them in action to decide. It's just so hard to get up 20-30 minutes into something if you are not finished. I need to plan out segments. First one will be positioning everything. Second one will be color & effects. Third will be fonts. Hopefully none of thsoe will take more than 30 minutes, since I already have a good idea of what I want to do.
I have a chat tonight I need to be at. It's an hour & I think I can mange that if I get up every 10 minutes or so...maybe I can borrow DH's laptop & sit in my recliner. I wonder how much work he'll have to do tonight?

my back
bad news for my digi scrapping & time online. My back is whacked. I went to the chiro today for some ongoing pain in my mid back & shoulders. everything is extremely tight. We talked about my posture & my activities. A lot of my problem is this desk & the chair. The desk is just all wrong. It is too high for the chair I have so my elbows are too low when I type & that puts strain on my shoulder & neck muscles . The opening between the drawers is too narrow for a chair with arms to fit in it (it a circa 1940's desk, given to us free), plus I cannot angle myself correctly to the right to be comfortable because of the drawers on each side. I need the drawers for storage, but I think a newer, better designed desk & chair is in order. however we have no money for that. Possibly after we figure out our tax refund, but that is at least a month away, assuming there is enough. So, unless I want to undo the work that the chiro is doing, I need to spend less time at the desk.

Challenges to possibly do
at Scrapmommies
Font- monogram letter
Element - stitching on a photo
inspiration
color (done)
scraplift
babybook - 1st photo (done)
journaling - simple pleasure (done)
AAM - daily routine
Heritage - love
at DSP
Jan Journaling Challenge - how we met (done0
DET Boot Camp - combine graphic & paper style for Gallery presence
Faithbooks - restarted, current challenge is 'time you heard God's voice'
but I also need to do the 2 previous ones 'how you became' & 'story of your baptism/commitment'. These are going to end up being mostly journaling I think. I have no photos to go with them.
So that is 10 challenges still & I haven't listed the DSD or SBB ones because I doubt I will get to them. DSD's start on different days & only run a week & I have a hard time keeping up with them
I still have to do a text on a curve layout for DSU295 as well.
This was done for the journaling challenge at ScrapMommies.com. The theme was simple pleasures. The photo & background are from stockxchnge.com The robbons & mat are from the TCO Coffee Shop kit by retrodiva

This was done for DSU295. The background & brads are from Lauren Bavin's Brothers & Sons kit. Everything else was scanned in by me. I created the index card for the journaling.
journaling reads
"These are recipies I enjoyed while growing up. We found them when the family was going through my mom's things after she passed away. Dad was the one who made the fudge. The recipie is in Mom's handwriting because Dad's was illegible. It makes a very rich & sweet fudge. I've made it myself several timesbut it never turns out quite like his. Mom made the cookies every Christmas. She usually made at least 3 batches - vanilla, orange & lemon. My favorite were the vanilla ones. Stacey makes sugar cookies at Christmas, but we dont' use Mom's recipie. We are not sure where to get alum or what to replace it with."
I know there are 2 typos in there but I left them because Brad is not a very good typist

This is my take on a sketch challenge at scrapmommies.com. I didn't intend it to be graphical when I started but once I got started it only seemed to work that way.

have decided to become more active on another couple of scrap sites. I bought a subscriber membership to SBB & am posting to DSD more often. Don't know how many challenges & chats there I will manage but we'll see
The class at DSP is going well. I have to interview Brad about his parents picture but I have the first week assignment done. I plan on taking a class in Feb & Mar also there.
The Wacom table has gone up to $169 so I won't be getting it until it is back on sale. Oh well. I have enough to do without it.
I need to complete "the bride" LO and create a "Cweepy Twee" layout with DS2 pics.

Note to self. Do not hit enter to space down when using Hello to blog. Which means my posts will be one long rambly paragraph. this may not work as an easy way to keep up with it. Though it will get the pics up faster.
My goal is too keep up better with this blog this year. I want it to be my place where I keep up with all my crafts. Iwas thinking of uploaded the rest of my LOs from 2005 but I'm not going to. I'll just try & do better with that this year as I go along.
